Yippy Inc., the Fort Myers-based company formerly known as Cinnabar Ventures, has purchased Pittsburgh-based Clusty.com for $5.5 million.

Both companies operate in the search engine market space, focusing on the development of a “family-friendly” Internet search option.

Richard Granville, owner of Yippy and a recent story subject in the Business Review, suggests his company could dramatically change the way families use the Web.

“Yippy can provide parents, educational institutions and government entities a much safer alternative for all web-based activities,” Granville said in a release announcing today's transaction. “You no longer need Internet Explorer, Chrome or Mozilla to surf the web. All you need is Yippy and Yippy is good.”

Granville, who owns 75% of Yippy, bought his share of the company for $200,000.
