Many experts have been calling this one a jobless recovery. But one Sarasota small business is doing its part to buck that trend.
Voalte (pronounced like volt), the developer of an iPhone application by the same name that helps hospitals with internal communications, hired seven new employees earlier this week. The latest additions will serve in the company's sales, engineering, and account management departments.
When asked why now is the time to hire, Voalte CEO Rob Campbell's response is none too surprising: he says his company is busy.
“The company is growing rapidly,” Campbell explains.
When the Business Review ran a feature story on the company in November 2009, the business predicted its revenues would reach $10 million this year.
“There are 7,500 hospitals in the United States,” Campbell explained at the time, “and we think every one of them would like to have a Voalte system.”
Campbell had also predicted that the number of employees at Voalte would double to 25 this year. The latest hiring wave brings the total close to that number, now sitting at 17.
Voalte remans bullish on the remainder of 2010. Said Campbell of the next several months: “We feel pretty good.”
