Nfinanse sings the greens


What do you get when you combine reloadable prepaid-cards with free music? The answer could be money cards that sing or 18- to 25-year-olds. Nfinanse is betting on the former.


The reloadable prepaid card provider just rolled out a music Web site, nFinanSeMusic.com, devoted to free downloads of up-and-coming artists. The goal according to Jerry Welch, chairman and CEO of nFinanSe, is to create brand awareness with teens, college kids and 20 somethings.


“It isn't rock science,” Welch says. “When you see [young adults] walking around it's always with earbuds in. Music is an important part of their life. This is marketing done in such a way that we are not trying to talk at them, but to bring them something that's fun and enjoyable for them.”


Nfinanse is partnering with music branding company Inspire, which will supply the music for the site.


For Welch, the idea of marketing through music harkens back to the concert sponsorship of venerable youth brands as Pepsi. Nfinanse plans to promote the site largely through social media such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.
