Lauren Danielson is the new president and CEO of Osprey Biotechnics Inc., a Sarasota-based company that grows commercially useful bacteria for its clients.

Danielson, daughter of Osprey founder Larrick Glendening, replaces Vincent Scuilla in the company's top leadership spot.

In a release, Danielson explained that following the recent death of her father, she “wanted to take a more active role in the management of the company.”

Danielson and her mother, Betty Glendening, are majority shareholders of Osprey, a privately-held corporation.

Formerly an executive vice president with Osprey, Danielson's background is in marketing, advertising, sales and law, bolstered by her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from Emory University School of Law.

Featured in a May 2009 issue of the Business Review, Osprey has seen its export business shoot up in recent months.
