A recent Forbes magazine analysis of Internal Revenue Service data shows Collier County is the top destination in the U.S. for high-income Americans.
No surprise here, as Naples is home to more retired Fortune 500 CEOs than any other city in the country.
But the Forbes analysis, which broke down IRS data by county and income for 2008, revealed some surprising new information. And it wasn't about who moved to Collier.
As it turns out more people left Collier County than moved here in 2008. But those who left had average income per capita of $26,128. That contrasts to the $76,161 per capita of those moving here.
Realtors take note: More people moved to Collier County from neighboring Lee County than any other county of origin. In fact, households that moved to Collier principally came from other parts of Florida, including Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Orange counties.
