Florida Chamber endorses who?

Memo: Accounting Department.

Subject: Cancellation of Florida Chamber of Commerce membership.

Seeing that the Florida Chamber of Commerce has endorsed career politician Attorney General Bill McCollum for governor over extraordinarily successful businessman Rick Scott, please cancel our membership.

It is difficult to see how the organization can truly represent business interests when it makes this choice. How can a man who has made a living jumping from one elected office to another — McCollum — possibly be more attuned to the needs of Florida businesses than a man who took a few hospitals and built the largest hospital company in the country? That would be Rick Scott.

This is shades of the Republican establishment going after Gov. Charlie Crist for the open Senate seat.

They didn't get it. They appear to not be alone.

Do Florida businesses want another politician? Or do they want change by someone who actually knows business — you know, such as the chamber's 139,000 members that are businesses.

With the cancellation letter, please include a note suggesting that the chamber move its headquarters out of the political establishment base in Tallahassee and to a location more in tune with businesses.
