HealthPlan buys GEMGroup

To expand service offerings and market presence, HealthPlan Holdings Inc. bought GEMGroup, a Pittsburgh-based company.


Based in Tampa, HealthPlan provides outsourcing services to insurance companies. GEMGroup offers similar services, specializing in accounting software, giving both companies the chance to grow following the merger.


“GEMGroup has tremendous expertise and technology assets in the union trust market,” Jeff Bak, HealthPlan CEO, said in a press release, claiming that the combined companies would offer “the most comprehensive and flexible outsourcing solution available on the market.”


The addition of GEMGroup's 120 associates to HealthPlan's payrolls will give the combined company more than 1,200 employees, a release said.
