Ken Smith is the newest chief operating officer at Alico Inc., the land management company headquartered near Fort Myers. Smith joins the company after having acted as a part-time consultant since February of this year.
Alico owns 135,500 acres in Florida, according to a company release, and the firm's CEO, JD Alexander, hopes Smith will help the company extract additional value from those assets.
Smith will be “a key part of the team that accelerates our efforts to evaluate land potential to produce multiple cash flow streams over time," Alexander said in a release.
Before taking on this latest leadership position, Smith served as vice president of agriculture operations at Atlanticblue Group Inc., which owns 51% of Alico's stock.
Based in LaBelle, Alico (symbol: ALCO) earned $81.66 million in revenues over the last 12 months.
