Business survey brings good news
A slight majority of American business owners say 2010 won't be so bad after all, according to a recent survey commissioned by Grant Thornton International, a global accounting firm.
The late 2009 survey queried 7,400 private business executives in 36 countries about topics including the state of their business and growth and employment prospects. In the U.S., 51% of the respondents say they are optimistic about the economy this year.
On specific company revenues, another 51% of the executives projected growth in 2010, while 36% say their company's numbers will stay the same this year as in 2009.
Employment looks to be on an upswing too, according to the survey: Poll respondents, by a two-to-one margin — 29% to 14% — say their company will increase its workforce this year. More than half of the respondents, 56%, projected no new hires in 2010.
