Attorney opens travel healthcare

It was a hole in the market that led Sarasota attorney P. Christopher Jaensch to open a Passport Health franchise — a real estate hole.

Jaensch, the managing partner of the Jaensch Immigration Law Firm, had commercial space he needed to fill near his firm's offices in Sarasota and very few prospects. So he decided to open a new travel-focused healthcare business.

“I was reading about the 500 best franchises, when I came across [Passport Health],” says Jaensch. “I saw that there were a lot of compliments between the franchise and the way our [law firm] business operates. I've been managing the law firm for the past 10 years and so I felt that it would require the same skills to manage this type of a business.”

Unlike a restaurant, hair salon or coffee shop franchise, Passport Health offers the immigration attorney some clear similarities both in terms of clientele and marketing. In addition, along with selling vaccines, supplies and travel health consulting for international travelers, Passport Health will also provide immigration physicals required during the green card process.

The Gulf Coast is well known for its plethora of international travelers and visitors, and the new business should allow Jaensch to find business from both sides.

“I like to think it's recession proof,” Jaensch says. “We're mainly dealing with high-end travelers, who shouldn't be as affected by the recession. Plus the need to stay healthy is recession resistant. Our services are also a good preventative way to avoid costs.”

Passport Health of Sarasota is part of the largest network of travel medicine advisors and vaccine providers in the nation with 172 locations in 36 states.

Jaensch's franchise agreement covers Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, DeSoto, and Hardee counties and he is already considering expanding.
