HMA sells 140-bed hospital

NAPLES — Health Management Associates Inc. agreed to sell Riley Hospital to Anderson Regional Medical Center, a company based in Meridian, Miss. The sold hospital is also located in Meridian.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Riley Hospital is a 140-bed facility. Anderson Regional said it would offer employment to substantially all of the hospital's current employees.

In late October, HMA bought the Wuesthoff Health System for $152 million. Through the first nine months of 2010, the Naples-based company earned $118.6 million in net income.
