SinoFresh HealthCare adds SRS International subsidiary
Venice-based SinoFresh HealthCare Inc. has acquired and made Virgina-based SRS International Corp. a wholly owned subsidiary.

John Todhunter, principal of SRS International, a consulting company which specializes in research and development, compliance and other regulatory matters, has represented companies before the FDA and the EPA, plus designed and conducted clinical studies. He was appointed to the EPA by President Ronald Reagan.

The deal “immediately brings us regulatory and product development expertise at a level of competence and experience that could not easily be duplicated by an emerging growth-oriented company,” SinoFresh President and CEO David Olund said in a press release.

SinoFresh HealthCare manufactures and distributes nasal, oral and topical antiseptic germ-killing products.

Venice's PGT's move expected to cost $7 million
Venice-based PGT Inc. expects to spend about $7 million to close its window and door manufacturing facilities in North Carolina, but to eventually break even on the action, with roughly $3.5 million in savings earned back in 2011.

It will spend from $3.5 million to $4 million on severances and other related benefits for the 468 positions it is eliminating, according to a document filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Relocating equipment and other materials to its facilities in Venice will cost an additional $3 million.

PGT Inc. recently announced that it would be moving 300 manufacturing jobs from its North Carolina facility to Venice, and that it planned on adding another 400 jobs over the next five years.

Newspaper publisher hired to head Cox, Valpak
Michael Vivio will become the next president of Cox Target Media/Valpak in January, replacing Greg Bicket who is retiring at the end of the year.

Vivio was publisher of the Austin American-Statesman, and CEO of the Statesman Co. The Texas Associated Press Managing Editors named the Statesman as Texas' Best Metro Newspaper last spring.

In a press release, Cox Media Group Executive Vice President Doug Franklin termed him “an innovative leader with an excellent track record in media sales, marketing and digital business.”

The Statesman launched Hookem.com and purchased InFactDaily, an online newsletter. Valpak continues rolling out its web service at ValpakDeals.com.

Headquartered in Largo, Valpak delivers coupons to nearly 40 million U.S. households each month.

It is a subsidiary of Cox Enterprises, an Atlanta-based firm with $1.8 billion in annual revenues.
