Home prices across Florida fell 8% between October 2009 and the same month this year, a new report from CoreLogic shows. Nationwide, prices fell 3.9%, the report said.

Florida ranked fifth among the 50 states in terms of overall home value depreciation. Only Idaho (15.06%), Alabama (9.30%), Oregon (8.50%) and Arizona (8.25%) suffered larger drops.

Even after excluding distressed sales, Florida home prices still fell by 4.69%, the eighth largest of such declines.

In North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota, home prices fell 5.54% over the year. Excluding distressed sales, the decline was 1.78%.

Home values appreciated in 11 states, including North Dakota, which saw the largest increase in prices (4.61%).
