The Federal Railroad Administration awarded the state of Florida an additional $342 million for the construction of a high-speed railway system, according to the office of U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Tampa.

"With this additional money, on top of the $2.05 billion Florida already has received for high-speed rail, we are even closer to putting to work thousands of Floridians and boosting our economy," Castor said in a statement.
