SCORE, a volunteer organization tasked with helping small businesses across the country, recognized two Gulf Coast businesses with its 2010 SCORE Awards.

Just Like Family Home Care, based in Naples, was named Outstanding Woman-owned Business, and Cortez-based The Translation Link won the award for Outstanding Small Business Launch by a 50-plus Entrepreneur.

Just Like Family Home Care is owned and operated by Elisabeth Nassberg and Nikki Stillman. SCORE said the pair's ability to adapt earned Nassberg and Stillman the win. “We had to adjust our business strategy to keep up with the economy," Nassberg said in a release.

Alina Mugford grew her translation services company by 1,300% after launching in January 2007. That growth slowed last year, but did not cease, as The Translation Link expanded by another 50% over the past 12 months.

SCORE has been helping small businesses since 1964, with more than 12,400 volunteer entrepreneurs advising millions of businesses today.
