BayCare Health adds CIO

Clearwater-based BayCare Health System appointed Tim Thompson as its new chief information officer, effective Sept. 7, a release said.

Thompson will help BayCare with its transition to an electronic-based medical records system (EMR), and brings experience from having worked with several other larger health care organizations. Throughout his career, Thompson has aided more than 30 hospitals in their transition to EMR.

Most recently, Thompson served as CIO and senior vice president for the Methodist Hospital System in Houston.
