Billionaire wants nomination

Yet another player has entered the contest for Florida's U.S. Senate seat, however serious his intentions. Jeff Greene has announced — via YouTube, of course — that he will vie for the Democratic nomination in this year's election.

Greene earned nearly $500 million on bets against the housing market in the past few years, giving him at the very least the financial means to compete with presumptive Democratic nominee Kendrick Meek, who reportedly has less than $4 million to spend on his campaign.

Greene was profiled in 2008 by the Wall Street Journal, and since then has married, which was made an especially notable occasion by the identity of his best man: Mike Tyson.
