RLJ Development buys hotel

An affiliate of Bethesda, Md.-based hotel investment firm RLJ Development LLC has purchased the Embassy Suites Downtown Tampa on Florida Avenue for $77 million.

Built in 2006, the 266,428-square-foot hotel is connected via an elevated bridge to the Tampa Convention Center.

RLJ Development's RLJ Lodging Fund II already owns the Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inn & Suites and Homewood Suites in Brandon and Hampton Inn & Suites in Clearwater.
