Keith Appleby joins Fowler

White as associate attorney

Keith Appleby is a new associate at Tampa's Fowler White Boggs Banker PA. Most recently he served as a judicial intern in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Tampa.

A member of the firm's commercial litigation practice group, Appleby focuses on bankruptcy and creditors' rights law.

Appleby earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida, a graduate certificate in retail bank management from the Consumer Bankers Association at the University of Virginia and master's and law degrees from Stetson University.

Fifth Third Bank, Florida

makes new appointments

Fifth Third Bank, Florida recently announced new appointments in the Tampa Bay area:

• Jack Motter was named senior vice president of mortgage lending in Tampa. Motter, with more than 25 years of experience in the mortgage lending industry, has served as past president of the California Association of Residential Lenders and as an instructor of finance and real estate at West Valley Community College, San Jose, Calif.

• Mark Rhein assumed the position of senior vice president and private client group manager in Tampa. He previously was a manager of private banking for First National Bank of Florida. With 25 years experience in banking, Rhein is a certified financial planner with a master of science degree in financial planning from the University of Phoenix and a MBA from Cleveland State University.

• William Thorla was named vice president and regional manager for Hillsborough County in January. He previously was vice president and regional manager for the bank in western Ohio. Thorla has 28 years of experience in the banking industry.

• Doug Anderson was appointed Tampa vice president and regional sales manager. A graduate of Florida Institute of Technology and the University of Central Florida, Anderson previously served as vice president and regional loan production manager.

• Tiffany Lewis relocated to Florida to become senior regional sales manager in Tampa. She previously held the same position for Fifth Third in eastern Michigan.

• Kevin S. Waugh relocated to Tampa from Chicago to become assistant vice president and senior regional sales manager. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, he has a bachelor's degree in finance. He has more than nine years experience in banking and mortgage lending.
