Grapevine Communications was among a select group of printers and design groups that received awards at the 17th Annual Florida Print Awards, which honors printing excellence in Florida. Grapevine and Southeastern Printing received a Judges Award for a brochure/folder for The Broadway Promenade, a mixed-use condominium development in downtown Sarasota.
Infinium Labs will demonstrate
gaming service in Las Vegas
Sarasota-based Infinium Labs will demonstrate its flagship Phantom Game Service (TM), built on Microsoftis Windows XP Embedded technology, in Microsoft booth No. 7145 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center during the Consumer Electronics Show, Jan. 6n9. Infinium will join the Microsoft Mobile and Embedded Devices Division at Digital Experience.
Fort Lauderdale airline
starts local service
Florida Coastal Airlines started flying to the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport from its hub at Fort Lauderdale International Airport. Florida Coastal Airlines will operate up to five daily flights in twin-engine Cessna 402s.
Epicurean Life now
has five Sommeliers
Epicurean Life, operators of several upscale wine and culinary destinations in Sarasota, announced that two more of their employees recently passed the Court of Master Sommeliers level one certification exam. The Epicurean Life Co. now has five Sommeliers and two advanced level Sommeliers on staff. Martin Scott from Mortonis Catering and Special Events and Brian Diebol from Fredis Restaurant recently took the wine exam. Martin scored first out of 40 people that took the exam and Brian ranked second of 100 people.
In celebration of 10 years,
event center waives rental fees
The Stardust Event Center will celebrate its 10-year anniversary in February. In celebration, the center will waive its facility rental fee to all non-profits that hold fundraisers in February, to help them get a ijump-starti on fund-raising in 2005.
Sarasota builder has two homes
entered into Phaidon Atlas
Two North Casey Key homes have been included in the recently published Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary World Architecture. The single-family residences, constructed by Sarasota custom homebuilder and designed by Toshiko Mori Architects of New York, are two of more than 1,000 buildings from over 75 countries to be included in the atlas, which showcases the most outstanding works of world architecture built since 1998.
New-type of art gallery
opens in Sarasota
Linse Miller opened the QuiltsByLinse Gallery in December in the Riverview Plaza. The gallery shows all types of quilt-making artistry, but specializes in Amish handmade quilts and fabric art by local artists. QuiltsByLinse will celebrate its grand opening on Jan. 26 from 4-7 p.m.
