Banks' Market Share

aThe Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. has released its 2003 summary of deposits. The Gulf Coast Business Review took the latest annual bank-deposit data as of June 30 and compared it with that of 2002 for the five metropolitan statistical areas on the Gulf Coast.

Many Florida affiliates of the huge multi-state banks suffered a few nicks. Bank of America, for instance, lost share in all five markets. The worst erosion was in Fort Myers, where it lost 91 basis points. Still, the behemoth held the overall deposit lead in every one of the Gulf Coast markets.
