TAMPA — The former Sweet Tomatoes restaurant location in Tampa has sold for $4.1 million.

The 8,874-square foot building has been empty since the chain shut down its restaurants in May of 2020.

The property, at 1902 N. Dale Mabry, was purchased by Florida-based Genesis Commercial Group, according to a release from CBRE, which represented seller Ben Mallah of Equity Management Partners.

There is no word on what Genesis intends to do with the property, which its on 1.19 acres and comes with 69 parking spaces. The property is just off Interstate 75 and about a mile north of the $500 million Midtown Tampa development, which includes hotels, retail and office space.

Ari Ravi with CBRE says the property’s location “made it attractive to both investors and owner-users.”

“The combination of our aggressive marketing approach along with the current market conditions resulted in multiple offers from local and out-of-area buyers.”
