Member-owned club building outdoor dining venue

Shadow Wood Country Club responds to market to demand with a 260-seat, $5.2 million expansion scheduled for November completion.

ESTERO — With an anticipated November completion, Peacock + Lewis Architects and Planners and general contractor DeAngelis Diamond, both of Naples, have teamed up to build a $5.2 million covered outdoor casual dining venue at Shadow Wood Country Club in Estero. The project will convert a prior 36-seat outdoor lounge area into a 260-seat dining space surrounding an octangular bar.

The expansion is in response to increasing market demand among country club shoppers for more outdoor lifestyle spaces. 

“Over the past few years, prospective members have indicated that casual, outdoor amenities are crucially important to their buying decision,” says Shadow Wood Director of Membership Danita Osborn. “Shadow Wood continues to invest in its amenities to be able to provide the ultimate member experience.”

The addition will offer views of the driving range and include a folding glass door system to enable climate control and provide an indoor-outdoor dining experience in all weather conditions. The proximity of the existing event plaza and fire pits from the new dining area will provide cocktail space before and after dinner.

“We are thrilled to be able to enhance our club amenities and deliver an exciting new dining experience,” says Shadow Wood President Rich Celiberti in a statement, adding the project will be funded without bank loans or debt. 

A private, member-owned club, Shadow Wood offers three golf courses including Shadow Wood North, designed by Bob Cupp with renovation by Rees Jones; and the Arthur Hills-designed course at Shadow Wood Preserve. The club also offers a nine-court tennis complex, two bocce courts, a 30,000-square-foot main clubhouse, and a 16,000-square-foot clubhouse at Shadow Wood Preserve.
