VENICE — Venice Pier Group Vice President Justin Pachota will take over the role of company president from his father, Venice Pier Group Owner Mike Pachota.

Venice Pier Group operates the Venice waterfront restaurants Sharky’s on the Pier and Fins at Sharky’s at 1600 Harbor Drive and Snook Haven at 5000 E. Venice Ave.

Mike Pachota will remain hands-on with the company as his role transitions to vice president, according to a press release. He will focus on forward-thinking and big-picture ideas while Justin Pachota leads and oversees day-to-day operations, the release adds.

“It’s been a great ride,” says Mike Pachota in a statement. “I’m proud to have the kids involved in writing the next chapter of [Venice Pier Group]. For a restaurant to have its 33rd anniversary — that’s pretty good.”

After graduating from college, Justin Pachota began working for Smokey Bones in Orlando. He also worked at the Columbus, Ga., location and served as opening manager during the grand opening of the Lakeland location. In 2006, he became the company's youngest general manager at the Jacksonville location, the statement says.

He started working in the family business at a young age and held progressive roles with the company, including general manager of Fins at Sharky's and Venice Pier Group vice president. His wife, Cheri, is managing partner at Snook Haven.

"I've always admired the job Mike has done, and especially how he has created a family-like atmosphere for all people we work with," says Justin Pachota in the statement. "I look forward to the chance to continue to help our Venice Pier Group 'family' grow, thrive and prosper in the years to come."
