Nutritional supplements, cosmetics business opens headquarters in area

The region has landed another headquarters project: an $840 million German nutritional supplements and cosmetics business. 

PM-International AG, a direct sales company that develops and markets products through the brand FitLine, opened a new headquarters for the Americas in south Manatee County, in the Sarasota-Bradenton Commerce Park. PM-International operates in more than 40 countries, entering the U.S. in 2014. It also has an office in Pittsburgh.

The new headquarters, in a 13,000-square-foot space, will handle administration and supply chain management for North, South and Central America. It includes offices, meeting facilities and a packaging operation. About 15 employees will start at the new headquarters, officials say, and the staff could grow from there.

PM-International AG Chief Sales Officer for the Americas Sammy El Ghoul tells Coffee Talk the headquarters is up and running after a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony. El Ghoul says founder and CEO Rolf Sorg, who started the company in Germany in 1993, made the decision to open up a Sarasota headquarters.

Strategically it made sense for the headquarters of the Americas to be generally in the middle of the geographic area, says El Ghoul. Sorg, he says, is also familiar with Florida and is a fan of Sarasota.

PM-International AG has been expanding in Asia and Europe, and the Americas, says El Ghoul, present huge potential in the health industry. “The U.S. is a very big place and a very big market,” El Ghoul says. “We might be opening more offices.”

In the future, he says the company could also start manufacturing products in the Manatee-Sarasota region.

“Our plan is to be the market leader in the future here,” he says of the company’s plans for U.S. expansion. Plans also include growing the number of independent distributors in the U.S.

Overall, the company has over 100 offices around the world. El Ghoul says, “Our vision is to be a market leader in health, beauty and fitness.”
