Fort Myers Preparatory & Fitness Academy plans to use a former Robb & Stucky warehouse and showroom as the new Fort Myers home for its charter school. The school agreed to lease the 65,190-square-foot building, at 4740 S. Cleveland Ave., in a 10-year deal.

Fort Myers Preparatory & Fitness Academy is remodeling the building to create 33 classrooms, new office space, and a cafeteria. The remaining 40% of the space in the renovated building will be devoted to athletics. It plans to have the space ready for the fall.

The new school is designed to accommodate 630 students - 400 more than the capacity of its current facility.

Jim Garinger of Colliers International Southwest Florida represented the landlord, Normark Investments Inc., and John Paulich IV of Jassy Real Estate Investments Inc. represented the tenant.

The renovation being done to the warehouse also includes removing, recycling and reselling $2 million worth of furniture shelving that was previously used by Robb & Stucky.

Fort Myers Preparatory & Fitness Academy is currently holding classes from a temporary location at 10676 Colonial Blvd. in Fort Myers. The charter school also has locations in Bonita Springs and Cape Coral.
