FORT MYERS — Aldea, a 5.7-acre apartment development in Midtown Fort Myers, has won city approval and is expected to begin construction December 2022.

The $65 million project will take up a full city block bordering Fowler Street, Market Street and Central Avenue. It will be made up of two residential buildings that will look onto “multi-functional courtyard spaces,” according to a release from the developer, Krise Commercial Group.

Krise Commercial says in the release the project was “inspired” by the city’s Midtown Vision Plan. According to the city, the plan was designed to come up with concepts and ideas for downtown, city and the 243-acre Midtown.

According to its website, Fort Myers “explored in depth how the new proposed Midtown area will accommodate smart growth, more housing options and enhanced economic opportunities for the city and its citizens.”

Aldea, which should be open to residents by the fall of 2024, will be made up of 305 units and include 30,000 square feet of commercial retail space and a 540-space parking garage.

“We assembled a team of highly regarded professionals to make this project a success, including working in conjunction with the U.S. Green Building Council achieving an environmental Green strategic approach to the project,” Randy Krise, owner of Krise Commercial, says in the release.
