Airport ends year in expansion mode

Tampa International Airport is taking off when it comes to getting new routes.

One of the most significant additions comes from Copa Airlines, which announced recently that it plans to increase service from four days a week to daily flights from Tampa to Panama City, Panama. Copa, which debuted its Tampa-Panama City route four years ago, will make the transition to daily nonstop service in July.

“When Copa launched in 2013, Copa CEO Pedro Heilbron made us the promise that together we would build this route to daily service,” says Tampa International Executive Vice President of Marketing Chris Minner in a statement. “Our teams have worked tirelessly to make that happen. We are thrilled about the increased service and what it means for Florida's west coast residents.”
