Avelo Airlines is launching a new nonstop flight out of the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport. The route will connect SRQ with North Dallas/McKinney National Airport (DTX), which is about 30 miles north of Dallas.

Service between SRQ and DTX will start Wednesday, Dec. 16, with twice-weekly service on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Introductory fares start at $69.

“We’re excited to bring a new nonstop route to Sarasota-Bradenton and make it easier than ever for travelers to connect between Florida’s Gulf Coast and North Dallas/McKinney,” Avelo Airlines CEO and founder Andrew Levy says in a statement.

Avelo will now serve three nonstop destinations out of SRQ. In addition to DTX, the airline provides flights to Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and Philadelphia/Delaware Valley’s Wilmington Airport (ILG). It is known for connecting smaller airports.

Travelers going to North Dallas/McKinney National Airport in the coming months will be among the first to use the airport’s new terminal. DTX is opening a new commercial passenger terminal Nov. 11 that will serve Avelo travelers and provide an alternative to larger Dallas-area airports. Avelo previously announced it will begin offering service between DTX and Tampa and Fort Myers airports in November.
