Decks & Docks, a Clearwater marine construction and outdoor living supply company, has expanded to the West Coast with the purchase of a California building materials company.
The purchase is of San Diego-based J&W Lumber which operates six retail locations in Southern California. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Decks & Docks, as it often does when adding companies to its growing roster, will keep J&W’s team in place.
The California company, founded in 1958 by Charley Jennings, sells outdoor building materials including decking, railing and accessories. Its customer base includes homeowners, contractors, municipalities, dealers, manufacturers and architects.
Clyde Jennings, the son of the company’s founder and the current owner, says in a statement that he’s gotten to know Decks & Docks’ during the process and believes the partnership will continue J&W’s “proud legacy” with customers and employees.
“Today marks a new development for us but in practice it is a continuation of J&W’s values and longstanding way of doing business,” he says.
Decks & Docks was founded in 1991 and is known as a “one-stop shop” for contractors with a suite of composite decking, railings, pilings and vinyl seawall. It currently operates a network of 76 locations across 24 states and ships domestically and internationally.
Trenam Law served as the legal advisor to Decks & Docks in the deal and Grant Thornton Stax served as financial advisor. Procopio served as legal advisor and RA Capital served as financial advisor to J&W.
