A Miami-based bank has moved its regional headquarters to Tampa’s Westshore District after a year of continued growth that has seen the bank nearly double its assets, deposits and lending activity in the Tampa Bay market.
City National Bank of Florida has opened its new 7,800-square-foot office inside the Urban Center building, at 4890 West Kennedy Boulevard, according to a release.
The new headquarters positions the bank for its next phase of growth in Florida’s Gulf Coast, the release says. The new, larger office will be the central workplace for a regional team that has tripled in size over the past year, and still offers space for the bank to carry out plans to increase that team by another 50% before the end of the year.
CNB has invested heavily in the Tampa Bay market since mid-2024, when CEO Jorge Gonzalez announced plans to add an additional 200 new employees to the bank’s payroll. Since then, its portfolio has evolved from being primarily commercial real estate focused to a more balanced mix, the release says.
CNB has tripled its commercial and industrial portfolio over the past year and broadened its client base to include major corporations, prominent family offices and growing middle market businesses. Loan activity in Tampa Bay has also increased 175% over last year, the release says, underscoring both the strong demand for capital in the region and CNB’s expanding role as a financing partner.
CNB says it has seen strong momentum across the pharmaceuticals, real estate, family offices, aviation and hospitality sectors over the past year. Recent transactions include financing new aviation infrastructure at a major regional airport and providing construction loans for initial multifamily developments in emerging markets, the release says.
Founded in 1946, CNB employs more than 1,200 people statewide and holds more than $28 billion in assets. It ranks among Florida’s largest and fastest-growing banks and is one of the nation’s 75 largest banks, according to The Federal Reserve.
