Publix opens a new store, its 8th since late May

Publix is at it again.

The Lakeland grocer opened its latest store July 2. This one is 48,388 square feet and located at 4601 9th St. N. in Naples’ Neapolitan Way shopping center off of U.S. Highway 41. It replaces a previous store demolished in 2024.

The new store, says Publix, features its standard departments and has an upstairs seating area for customers.

Publix has been busy this year, opening at least seven new stores in Florida and one in Kentucky since May 21. Of those, two are in Polk County and one in Manatee County.

As if that wasn’t enough, it opened a new store in Fernandina Beach the same day as the Naples location and has plans to open another Polk store July 16.

In all, Publix currently has 1,440 locations across the Southeast, with 896 in Florida.

The grocer currently employs more than 260,000 people and it had $62.7 billion in sales last year.
