Thursday, April 9 has been named “Schiller International University Day" in the city of Tampa as the university unveiled its newly expanded campus in the heart of downtown.

Named after German playwright and philosopher Friedrich Schiller, the global private college has four campuses: three in Europe and one in the States, in Tampa. That stateside campus is in the Park Tower high-rise building at 400 N. Tampa St. The campus, considered Schiller’s flagship, sits on the 17th floor of the 36-story building and combines modern learning spaces with convenient access to and from Tampa’s downtown, according to the university’s website. Amenities include smartboard classrooms, computer labs, a library, ample campus parking and a student lounge.

The specific footprint of Schiller International University was not disclosed.

Thursday’s celebration of the university’s expanded footprint was a recognition of the university’s growing impact in the Tampa Bay region and its "commitment to advancing global education and workforce readiness,” according to a release. The Schiller Tampa campus is heavily marketed toward international students who go on to apply for Optional Practical Training after graduation, allowing eligible graduates to gain authorized, hands-on work experience in their field of study in the United States for up to 36 months, according to Schiller’s website.

“Over the past year, we have significantly strengthened our local presence in Tampa by expanding our operational team, growing our faculty network and creating new opportunities within the community,” Schiller International University President and CEO Marta Muñiz says in a release. “Most notably, our student body has more than tripled. This is not just growth—it is momentum. It reflects the trust placed in our institution and mirrors the energy of Tampa itself: a city that is expanding, attracting talent, and actively shaping its future.

During Thursday’s celebration, Schiller staff also unveiled a new AI-powered system named Alex that interacted live with the audience and will be used in classrooms to “enhance communication, participation and learning.”

Founded in 1964, Schiller International University is a private, U.S.-based institution offering undergraduate and graduate programs aimed at preparing students for international careers. In addition to the Tampa campus, Schiller has three other campuses, in Paris, Madrid, and Heidelberg, Germany.

The university is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) and emphasizes career-focused learning, cross-cultural collaboration and international mobility. Schiller offers dual-degree programs through partnerships with accredited institutions in the U.S. and Europe.
