A Sarasota site development company is moving its headquarters to Lakewood Ranch with the $3.4 million purchase of a Class A office building.

McLeod Land Services recently closed on the sale of the building at 7349 Merchant Court in Corporate Park, according to a May 5 statement from American Property Group of Sarasota.

Commercial Realtor Adam Doak brokered the deal.

“Lakewood Ranch continues to attract top-tier buyers looking for quality assets in a thriving business environment,” Doak says in a statement. “This sale reflects the strength of the commercial market here.”

McLeod Land Services, which offers services from excavation and land clearing to base asphalt and striping, was previously headquartered off Whitfield Avenue, northeast of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, on 28th Street Court East. It has more than 290 employees, according to its website, plus over 30 on-road dump trucks and 15 concrete crews working daily.

The company’s new building on Merchant Court is about 9 miles from its previous headquarters. It spans 10,000 square feet and was built in 2001, according to Sarasota County property records. In 2023, the building underwent a full-scale interior and exterior renovation, according to a statement from American Property Group.

The standalone property includes dozens of private offices, multiple conference and training areas, a break room/kitchen and server room on the first floor, with an air-conditioned second level that is used for storage. There are also 58 parking spaces and monument signage on-site.

The Merchant Court property is located by Center Point at Waterside, a mixed-use development near University Parkway and Interstate 75.
