A 10-story condominium on Golden Gate Point in Sarasota recently marked a construction milestone. The Owen was “topped off,” meaning the last steel beam was placed on the top part of the structure. When the project is finished, The Owen will contain 29 residences at the southern end of Golden Gate Point, a 22-acre peninsula near Marina Jack.
The topping-off milestone comes about halfway through the construction process. In June 2024, The Owen broke ground, and it will be completed by the second quarter of 2026, according to Van Osborne, vice president of sales for Naples-based developer The Ronto Group.
“Residents will find a stunning new condominium overlooking Sarasota Bay, the marina and the John Ringling Causeway bridge,” Osborne says. Located on 1.8 acres, The Owen will feature partial bay and marina views.
Two levels of parking will comprise the bottom floors of The Owen, with eight residential levels above them. Units start at $2.64 million and consist of three-bedroom, 3.5-bath floor plans ranging from 2,200 to 3,065 square feet under air plus glass-railed balconies with gas grills. Residents will receive climate-controlled storage rooms as well as two parking spaces, including one pre-wired for electric vehicle charging. There will be guest parking available too.
Among the community amenities will be a fenced-in dog park; saltwater infinity pool; game room with indoor/outdoor bar and social seating; fitness center with massage suite, steam/sauna rooms, yoga area and locker rooms; and an owners lobby with club room and bar, kitchen and seating areas.
The team developing the project recently celebrated the topping off, including architectural firm MHK, landscape architect DWJA, builder Connor & Gaskins Unlimited, interior designer Riley Interior Design and The Ronto Group, which is developing The Owen in partnership with Wheelock Street Capital.
Next up for the project is the opening of its sales office. The Ronto Group will hold a grand opening for the new sales gallery May 12 at 1819 Main St., Suite 110, in Sarasota. The public will be invited to meet the team and have refreshments from 1 to 4 p.m. daily from May 12 to May 16 and enter to win a $500 dining gift certificate. The sales gallery will feature The Owen as well as The Ronto Group's Amara, a two-tower, 56-unit condominium that will also be developed on Golden Gate Point. Until the Main Street gallery opens, The Owen has a temporary sales office at MHK Architecture, 300 S. Orange Ave., in Sarasota.
