MarineMax, the Pinellas County boat retailer and marina operator, has opened two new facilities in June, one on Florida’s East Coast and the another in Georgia.
The latest to open is MarineMax Stuart Marina in Stuart, between Jupiter Island and Jensen Beach.
The company, in a statement Monday, says the just-completed marina is next to one of its existing retail and service centers. It will offer storage for more than 100 boats and is equipped with lifts that can handle up to 56,000 pounds.
On June 3, the company announced the opening of IGY Savannah Harbor Marina along the Savannah River on Hutchinson Island. It has nearly 100 berths and more than 1,100 linear feet of deep-water dockage for superyachts. It also offers high-speed fueling, shore power and concierge support.
IGY Marinas is a MarineMax subsidiary.
MarineMax, which was founded in Clearwater and is now based in nearby Oldsmar, has 120 locations worldwide, including more than 70 dealerships and 65 marina and storage facilities.
According to its second quarter earnings report, revenue increased 8.3% to $631.5 million for the three months ending March 31 when compared to the same period last year. it had $2.43 billion in revenue last year.
That, the company says, was driven by higher boat sales, which also led to an 11% increase in same-store sales.
In addition to the new marinas that opened this month, MarineMax in March closed on the purchase of Shelter Bay Marine, a full-service marina and storage facility, in Marathon.
