A new freestanding emergency room on the US 41 Bypass in Venice is set to open in mid-June. HCA Florida Venice Doctors Emergency held a ribbon-cutting on June 6. It is an extension of emergency services provided by HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, which is more than 16 miles north.
Board-certified emergency physicians, physician assistants, nurses and paramedics will work together in Venice to treat those experiencing medical crises at the facility. Many of the staff came from the Sarasota location, according to a spokesperson for HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital.
The new building contains 11 treatment rooms, including an area for EMS and trauma patients, as well as a private patient triage section, advanced patient monitoring equipment and state-of-the-art lifesaving technology, according to a statement.
Building the 10,860-square-foot facility cost $16.3 million. Batten Shaw, which is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, handled construction.
Around the state, HCA Florida operates 48 hospitals and more than 50 freestanding emergency rooms.Â
HCA Florida Venice Doctors Emergency will be at 901 US 41 Bypass South in Venice. Once it opens in mid-June, it will be available 24/7.
