Fifth Third Bank has named a new region president for North Florida. Scott Daigle takes over the position from Cary Putrino, who has transitioned into the role of North Florida regional chairman.

As president of the North Florida region, Daigle will oversee strategic direction and growth of Fifth Third’s commercial banking, wealth and asset management and commercial payments businesses across key markets including Tampa Bay, Sarasota, Orlando, North Central Florida and Jacksonville.

“I am honored to step into this role and collaborate with our talented team to continue advancing our growth strategy and delivering exceptional service to our clients,” Daigle says in a statement.

Daigle brings decades of banking and commercial lending experience to his new position, most recently as the North Florida commercial market president at TD Bank, according to a statement. He has extensive experience advising companies with expansion, acquisitions and general working capital needs, the statement says. He has also held leadership positions with Synovus Bank in Tampa and Wells Fargo after starting his banking career at Barnett Bank.

“Scott brings a wealth of experience in leading high-performing teams and serving clients with excellence,” Fifth Third Bank Group Regional President Tom Partridge says in the statement. “His leadership, insight and energy will be instrumental to accelerate our growth across the region.”

Daigle has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Radford University. He serves on the executive board of the Tampa Bay Chamber as well as the board of Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside.
