M/I Homes is the latest homebuilder to be announced for Palmera, a new gated community in Venice. Located within the master-planned community of Wellen Park, the neighborhood will feature single-family homes on oversized lots.

Each home at Palmera will have a three-car garage and span 2,291 to 5,021 square feet, according to a statement from M/I Homes. Six floor plans will be available, and some homes will have water or preserve views.

The Palmera community will feature a pool, a clubhouse, a splash pad and pickleball courts, as well as proximity to 30 miles of biking and hiking trails.

"Palmera at Wellen Park is going to be a special community where Southwest Florida residents can build the home of their dreams,” Danielle Calamela, vice president of sales and marketing for M/I Homes, says in a statement. “Homebuyers will fall in love with the amazing location within the masterplan community of Wellen Park and its proximity to boutique shops, live music and all-day eateries.”

Wellen Park currently has 13 neighborhoods, making Palmera the 14th. When fully built out, the community will encompass 22,000 homes and more than 60,000 residents.

M/I Homes is based in Ohio but added a Southwest Florida division in 2023 because of the growth and success in the area. Other M/I Homes projects nearby include Cassata Lakes and Vistera, both in Venice, and The Hammocks at West Port in Port Charlotte.
