Tampa-based ConnectWise, a software company for information technology firms, has made Angus Robertson its new chief marketing officer.

Robertson has extensive experience in the IT industry and deep understanding of managed service providers, ConnectWise says in a news release.

Robertson served in several tech-sector executive roles after studying computer science at the University of Georgia from 1994 to 1996, according to his LinkedIn profile.

ConnectWise provides software and other business that allows tech-service providers to execute efficiencies into automation, IT documentation and data management capabilities, the firm says. It can increase revenues with remote monitoring, cybersecurity, and backup and disaster recovery technologies.

It's just in time for the Tampa firm. Robertson comes on board as his new employer is developing one of the first "purpose-built" platforms for MSPs.

"As the company continues to innovate and evolve, Robertson's appointment comes at a crucial time to further strengthen ConnectWise's position as the go-to software provider for MSPs worldwide," ConnectWise says in a Thursday news statement.

Robertson has more than 20 years of experience leading marketing and sales teams for public, venture capital and private equity global tech companies and SaaS (software as a service) startups, ConnectWise says.

As a partner at Chief Outsiders, he successfully led go-to-market strategies for businesses of all sizes, ConnectWise says.

"ConnectWise has always been at the forefront of empowering MSPs with innovative solutions, and I am excited to be part of this journey," says Robertson. "Together, we will continue to revolutionize the industry and provide unparalleled support to our partners."

One of the key reasons Robertson signed onto ConnectWise "is his unwavering passion for the MSP community," the firm says. "Throughout his career … he has demonstrated a genuine commitment to understanding the unique challenges faced by MSPs and has consistently advocated for their success."

Angus has a "growth-first mindset, coupled with his proven ability to deliver scalable growth … invaluable assets for ConnectWise and our commitment to the success of the IT channel ecosystem," says Jason Magee, ConnectWise CEO, in the statement.

ConnectWise says it is well-positioned to lead MSP adoption of "hyper-automation through software innovation" in the areas of generative artificial intelligence (AI), using ConnectWise's Sidekick product and robotic process automation.
