BayFirst Financial Corp. appointed Scott J. McKim as EVP and CFO for both the corporation and the St. Petersburg-based BayFirst National Bank, say corporate officials.

McKim has 25 years of experience in the financial industry. A resident of Lithia, McKim comes directly from 121 Financial Credit Union in Jacksonville, where he served as chief strategy officer since June 2022, BayFirst officials say.

McKim previously worked as CFO and chief lending officer of Publix Employees Federal Credit Union in Lakeland and as chief lending officer for American Heritage Federal Credit Union in Philadelphia.

McKim also worked at one of the nation's largest banks, as director of corporate finance and a divisional CFO for Huntington Bancshares, owner of Huntington National Bank.

BayFirst CEO Anthony N. Leo says the bank did an extensive search for its next CFO.

"Scott is a seasoned financial executive with a proven ability to lead and drive results, and we look forward to seeing his contributions to both our financial strategies and overall growth," says Leo in a written statement.

McKim replaces Robin L. Oliver, who was named chief operating officer in February 2022 but kept the CFO title. Oliver will remain as COO.

McKim earned his MBA from The Ohio State University and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Bowling Green University. McKim serves on the board of directors and as treasurer for Golfers versus Brain Cancer.

BayFirst National Bank, headquartered in St. Petersburg and opened in 1999, operates 10 banking centers in the Tampa Bay area. BayFirst Financial Corp. controls $1.07 billion in assets.
