SWFL airport surges in monthly traffic report

Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 55% compared to last year at Southwest Florida International Airport.

FORT MYERS — Passenger traffic tallies at Southwest Florida International Airport continue to surge. The latest data: Traffic increased 58% in February over February 2021. A total of 1,149,618 passengers passed through the airport, under the call letters RSW, during the month.

Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 55% compared to last year, according to a statement. The traffic leader in February was Delta with 210,182 total passengers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Southwest (198,162), United (159,276), American (141,073) and Spirit (132,475).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 10,032 aircraft operations, an increase of 27% compared to February 2021, the release states. Page Field saw 13,194 operations, a 23% increase compared to February 2021.

Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 10.3 million passengers in 2021 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. No ad valorem (property) taxes are used for airport operation or construction.
