Looks like the Business Observer was onto something when it selected Raymond James branch manager Chris Fils for our 40 Under 40 issue in 2018.

Still with Raymond James in a branch manager role overseeing multiple offices in the Sarasota market, Fils was recently chosen for Investment News’ 40 Under 40 issue. A team of Investment News reporters and editors chose the 40 winners out of nearly 1,000 online nominations, according to the publication’s website.

A Fort Myers native, prior to Raymond James, Fils was one the youngest branch managers at Morgan Stanley, where he ran the San Francisco Bay Area-Los Gatos branch. In 2018 he told the Business Observer he achieved that success at such a young age by doing it the hard way — and hustling. He networked, put his clients and team ahead of himself, and just plain outworked everyone else.

“I was determined to do it,” Fils says.

Fils tells Investment News he’s maintained that ultra-competitive nature and work ethic. That’s key when managing branches, the publication states, which have traditionally struggled to attract advisers. “When I meet with advisers, I tell them I’m battle-tested,” Fils tells Investment News. “I’ve done 300 cold calls and been rejected, so I know how to help and solve problems. I can add value and help advisers attain their goals.”
