In addition to being the commercial banking leader and Fort Myers market executive, Earnest Wilks of Regions Bank is now also taking on the banking giant's expanded territory as the market executive for Sarasota, Bradenton and the surrounding communities.

“Earnest Wilks has been a model pacesetter and an inspiring leader for Regions’ teams serving Fort Myers, Cape Coral and surrounding areas. In addition, his leadership and insights have already benefited our Commercial Banking teams in Sarasota, Bradenton, and beyond,” John Turner, president and CEO of Regions Bank, says in a news release. “There is no leader better equipped to guide our company’s continued growth in this region.”

In his role, for both Fort Myers and the new territory, Wilks will collaborate with team and community members to support Regions’ priority of advancing economic and community development, supporting education and workforce readiness, and increasing financial wellness.

“Regions is doing great things along the Suncoast — including our most recent community partnership with the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce and the opening of modern branch facilities in the area,” Wilks says. “The high standard is already set. I look forward to championing the stellar work of my colleagues in Sarasota and beyond as they work to make life and business better in the community.”

Over the next few weeks, the market executive will create sessions and strategies for leadership within the new territory to follow.

“As I meet with clients, Regions colleagues and community leaders, I see a common vision for doing more to help our entire region grow — and that is exciting,” Wilks said. “I am honored to now play a larger role.”

Last year, the banking industry giant introduced a new branch concept through the opening of its new east Manatee County branch in Lakewood Ranch. The concept was designed to eliminate the teller line wait by personalizing the customer experience. Two video banking ATMs were also added to the modern-style branch.
