Suffolk, one of the largest building contractors in Florida and the country, has named Maureen Henson vice president of people and culture for the Southeast.

Henson will focus on increasing Suffolk’s commitment to the employee experience, project standards, engagement, retention and high-performance culture, according to a statement. Henson is the lead strategic partner to Suffolk’s team in the areas of employee engagement, professional development and human resources.

“Maureen’s passion for building relationships, leadership development, employee engagement and diversity embody Suffolk’s core values and make her the perfect fit for this position and our award-winning workplace,” said Peter Tuffo, the president of Suffolk’s southeast region, in the statement.

Henson has more than 20 years of diverse global human resources experience. Prior to joining Suffolk, she was director of HR for The Save Mart Cos. in California, where she was accountable for human resources leadership across grocery stores, supply chain, distribution centers and corporate locations for 16,000 team members and 10 union relationships. Henson is a leader in the diversity and inclusion space; in one of her previous roles at Citi, she led the company’s LGBTQ+ delegation at six national conferences and served as a keynote speaker in those forums. Additionally, she was Citi’s representative for the Human Rights Ordinance passed for the city of Jacksonville.
