TAMPA — Hospitality industry veteran Peter Wright has been named general manager of Hotel Haya in Ybor City.
According to a news release, Wright, who hails from South Africa but grew up in Philadelphia, brings more than 25 years of experience to the role. He has held executive leadership positions at Kimpton Hotels and Marriott Autograph Hotels.
Wright will also oversee operations at Flor Fina, Hotel Haya’s anchor restaurant.
The 178-room Hotel Haya, the release states, is an adaptive reuse of two historic Ybor City buildings: the neighborhood’s first restaurant, built in 1890, and the Warren building, rumored to have housed Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. It was designed by Tampa-based architecture firm Alfonso Architects Inc.
