The housing market in Florida keeps chugging along as evidenced by the strong year The Founders Club had in 2021.

The Sarasota-based club reported the sales of 36 homesites and three model homes last year. The number comes after a strong start reported in May that included 13 lot sales since January that amounted to nearly $2.75 million.

“The interest in The Founders Club has been unprecedented,” says Melissa Dovey, sales executive at The Founders Club, in a release. “We had strong sales in 2020 and kept gaining momentum through 2021. Buyers are telling us they want a better climate with year-round outdoor living. Many are also relocating from states with new or proposed tax increases or have decided to retire earlier than planned. They want to enjoy life and everything The Founders Club and Sarasota have to offer.”

The majority of the homebuyers in 2021 came from California, Washington and Oregon, Dovey says. The club, located east of Interstate 75 on Fruitville Road, features luxury homebuilders London Bay, AR Homes, John Cannon Homes and Lee Wetherington Homes through its Builder Program, which gives homebuyers access to various architectural styles and customizable floor plans.

Lee Wetherington Homes has two model homes that are available for viewing including a three-bedroom, four-bath estate that spans 4,200 square feet. AR Homes’ Annabel model is also open for viewing. The 3,630-square-foot home features three bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms and a bonus room with a wet bar.

“Model homes really capture the imagination and show the many possibilities available at The Founders Club,” says Dovey. “One of our recent model homebuyers received multiple offers before they even moved in. They refused. They love the home and the community.”

The club recently completed a $600,000 renovation of the Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed golf course. The course features a 7,094-yard, par 72 layout with updated bunkers and greens.
