Florida’s tech industry workers, as a group, are paid 66% more than workers in other fields across the state, new research shows. That could be one reason why, according to another new report, web searches for “tech jobs near me” have increased at least 60% over the past year.

But those Sunshine State salaries are all relative when compared to other states. In that analysis, from, Florida is in the bottom half of the country, one of 26 states where the average hourly wage for tech workers is less than $40 an hour. In Florida, that number is $39.81 an hour, on par with Missouri, Utah and Wisconsin. Washington State, Washington, D.C., California and Virginia are all, on average, over $50 an hour.

Being on the lower side of the average hourly rate nationally isn’t stopping people for clamoring for tech jobs in Florida. And, according to a separate analysis, from money management website FinanceBuzz, four of the 10 best places in the state for tech jobs are on the west coast. That list includes: Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Lakeland-Winter Haven, Punta Gorda and North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton.

The FinanceBuzz report, analyzing U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics datalooked at several factors, including job competition, salary, cost of living, highly rated tech companies, job availability and internet connectivity ranking. Data for each metro was assigned a 0-5 score, with scores being relative to all other metro areas, according to a statement. Individual factor scores were then weighted and added together to get a final score on a 0-100 scale. The top 10:

  1. Sebastian-Vero Beach
  2. Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater
  3. Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford
  4. Jacksonville
  5. Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville
  6. Lakeland-Winter Haven
  7. Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach
  8. Punta Gorda
  9. North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton
  10. Panama City
