PORT CHARLOTTE — The owners of the Rib City chain of restaurants have opened their second fast-casual location, under the brand Rib City Express.
The latest Rib City Express is in Port Charlotte, at 4233 Tamiami Trail, according to a statement. Rib City Express is a fast-casual restaurant concept that offers counter service and self-seating, rather than Rib City’s traditional full-service locations.
“We are always seeking opportunities to continue our growth and expand the Rib City brand,” said Paul Peden, managing partner of Rib City, says in a statement. “Since launching our first Rib City Express last year in Lehigh Acres, we have been looking to launch more fast-casual versions of Rib City and with COVID-19 changing the way we operate all our stores, this was the perfect time to launch another Rib City Express.”
Rib City Express offers a full-service Rib City menu, including cheese fries, fried okra, buffalo chicken tenders, Skyscraper BBQ sandwiches and Smokehouse favorites like Baby Back and spare ribs and smoked chicken. “We are excited to be able to adapt to the changing geographic of the restaurant industry and we look forward to offering guests the best BBQ in a fast-casual dining experience,” Peden adds in the statement.
Rib City was founded in 1989 and now operates 14 corporate restaurants in Florida with 13 locations in Southwest Florida, and 11 franchise restaurants across the country including Washington, Colorado, Tennessee, Ohio, Missouri and Virginia. Rib City offers a menu of barbecued meats, specialized sauces and complementary side dishes such as made-from-scratch baked beans and coleslaw.
