SARASOTA — National real estate investment and development company WMG Development LLC announced its new retail shopping center planned for Palmer Ranch in Sarasota will have a Publix as the anchor tenant.

The Shoppes at Palmer Ranch, at the northeast corner of Honore Avenue and Central Sarasota Parkway, is projected to open in late September 2022, according to a press release. When completed, The Shoppes at Palmer Ranch will encompass 65,848 square feet of grocery, retail, medical and restaurants and will have two additional outparcels for lease.

The new Publix will occupy approximately 48,000 square feet of the development. Publix will be joined by Heartland Dental, the release adds. Palmer Ranch, in central Sarasota County, is a well-established master-planned community with 7,000 acres that is home to over 20,000 residents.

“The development will add variety and convenience to the densely populated Palmer Ranch residential area,” says Craig Kopko, managing director of development at WMG Development, in the statement. “It is truly a pleasure working on this project with Publix and members of the community and we are excited for the groundbreaking and eventual opening day.”

The project’s site plan is under review with Sarasota County. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2021, pending approvals, a release says.

WMG Development is in 33 states and has more than 58 active projects.
